Amid high national unemployment rates, teen unemployment remains the highest of any group. As part of our broader focus on connecting individuals to meaningful employment, Bank of America is helping youth stay in school, graduate and connect to post-secondary education. Bank of America Career and Technical Education (CTE) Summer Scholars is one shining example of how.
We invite you and your organization to join our efforts by providing valuable work experience for students enrolled in CTE programs across the city. These programs offer public high school students a chance to learn skills to keep up with the changing face of 21st-century jobs, as they complete the traditional requirements necessary for graduation – all while achieving higher graduation rates than students at non-CTE high schools. Through education, employment and leadership development, young people gain valuable skills that increase their long-term success in the workplace, and in life.
Connecting youth to jobs is far more than a paycheck, it’s a long-term investment in their future and our country’s future. Thank you to the New York City Department of Education and The Fund For Public Schools for creating such an exceptional program with proven results. The 2012 Bank of America CTE Summer Scholars class demonstrated a 93% attendance rate (6% higher than other students at dedicated CTE schools) and 94% of the participating seniors graduated with a high school regents diploma or more advanced diploma.
Bank of America is proud to be a founding partner of the program and excited to be part of its growth.
